As the threat of climate change continues to increase, so does the vulnerability of coastal cities. The 'Shaping the City' project seeks to address these threats in New Orleans through strategically placed 'Arx,' or central community hubs, all within a one-mile radius of residents. Each hub would be a center for a microgrid of power, food, water, and healthcare needs.
I assisted in gathering research/data and creating maps that laid the groundwork for the design of the Arx. I also helped to curate the project for several presentations/lectures given to varying audiences. As this concept begins to become reality, thanks to non-profit groups in the city, we have strived to stay connected and assist in their efforts for disaster aid and recovery.
