Spring 2019, Professor Margarita Jover
These drawing exercises were used as a way to explore and question the implications of small scale living. This project allowed me to see confined space in a new, more positive way. The design of small living spaces is becoming more prevelant in the modernizing, urbanizing society that we live in today and it is important that designers study and understand its limitations and opportunities. The project required the design of a “horizontal home” and a “vertical home,” both of which challenged my preconceived notions of living space. The horizontal home I created was organized around the boundaries between indoor and outdoor space, while the vertical home focused on the exposed, experiential stair.
